Retroperitoneoscopic surgery

Among very few urologists in the world trained in Kidney surgery by retroperitoneoscopic approach- a further refined laparoscopic surgical approach.

Here, surgery is done from laparoscopic ports inserted in the patient’s flank region, away from the abdomen. This approach has several advantages including ease of direct access to the kidney through the creation of the retroperitoneal space with a decreased risk of injury to intra-abdominal organs such as the bowel, liver, and spleen.

Postoperatively patients have a very quick recovery with negligible pain and tiny scars in the flank region as compared to abdominal scars in conventional laparoscopic surgery
